WHO LED THE REBELLION AT THE TOWER OF BABEL? The conventional view is that it was Nimrod. This view is elaborated on in the Book of Jasher and in the storytelling of Josephus, the Hebrew historian who wrote his Jewish histories for the Roman world.
But there’s a problem. The correct biblical timeline provided in the Septuagint (LXX) conveys that Nimrod was likely born 100 years after the Tower of Babel event. Someone else in his ancestry led the rebellion – his father, Cush.
The Book of Jasher is primarily to blame for the disinformation that has been the foundation of the typical understanding about Babel. In this video, I correct the biblical timeline bringing it back to its authentic chronology as provided in the LXX and as testified to through five hundred years of early Church history. The story is of utmost importance. Simply put, you cannot understand the Bible’s story correctly without discovering the truth about the timeline of the Old Testament (and the beginnings of history AFTER the Flood of Noah). This isn’t academic. It is fundamental to knowing your Bible.
I invite you to take a listen and a careful watch of my most recent video, Rebooting the Bible – A Detailed Discussion Part 1. The first presentation is entitled, “Why Nimrod Proves the Conventional View of the Bible’s Timeline is Wrong.” It runs 47 minutes. After you view it, you will understand the origins of our Bible like never before. And you can better defend the veracity of our Scriptures once you learn how the LXX’s timeline aligns well with the beginnings of the world’s great civilizations: Sumer, Egypt, India, and China. All of these societies assert their beginning to be around 3100-2900 BC. This happens to be the same dating as the authentic Biblical timelines for the beginnings of human history POST-FLOOD. That is, the timeline of the Septuagint.
IN Part 2, I examine in more depth the proofs for the validity of the LXX timeline and the gross errors within the Masoretic Text’s chronology. How does this change our understanding of the stories of Genesis 1-11? The impact is very significant indeed. My thesis is not that the Bible’s history is in error. Rather, it is that our understanding of the history has been colored by erroneous claims in pseudepigrapha – The Book of Jubilees and the Book of Jasher, with support by Josephus in a few details from Hebrew legend.
The details are drawn from my two-book study, REBOOTING THE BIBLE, Parts 1 and 2. These books have become my bestsellers. You can find them on Amazon.com, or you can obtain the books in a specially priced bundle at faith-happens.com/store. $45.00 plus a discounted price for mailing. For the month of August you can also obtain the companion book I wrote, A BIOGRAPHY OF THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE for $15.00 – a total of $60.00 for the bundle which is $10.00 off the regular price. This book tells the story of the history of the Bible’s translations and responds to the attacks on me by those who favor the King James Bible as the only ‘inspired’ translation. So is the KJV of 1611, written in the King’s English under the auspices of King James, the only legitimate Bible for the Church? I answer that question with arguments that highlight the absurdity of this claim and lay the framework for a proper defense of the Bible in the twenty-first century. I pray you will learn much and enjoy learning in the process.
