The outcome of the German election nails the coffin shut, or so it would seem. Angela Merkel won but may not be able to govern. And yet, she indicates nothing should change in her policies. Let the immigration continue without control, let the debt continue to climb, and let the moral depravity of civilization continue unabated by destroying institutions like marriage and family. Sound familiar?
THE GERMAN ELECTION: JUST ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL?
German political leadership is going through a changing of the guard. This appeared to be happening in America too with Trump and the populist movement, although the empire of the establishment has struck back. Nevertheless, progressive policies increasingly frustrate the majority of the citizenry living outside the largest metroplexes. Why won’t the progressive elite roll over and give up the ghost? The answer is pretty simple: they believe they are still in control.
One of the biggest obstacles to the transformation of our country (and Germany for that matter) to bring us back to our moorings is the false dichotomy progressives point out in criticizing conservatives. They argue that the “right” is just another name for fascism. This identification, of course, is as wrong as claiming that all liberals are communists. But until conservatives can establish a clear distinction between conventional values that embrace nationalism with the elitist view that fascism is a proper synonym for nationalism, the minds of the public will buy the lie that “alt-right” conservatives (conservatives that no longer wish to be identified as Republicans) mean we are Nazis.
In short, as long as progressives (and the plutocrat elite who spark them) get away with designating conservatives as racists akin to radical brown shirts ready to fight in the streets (rather than patriots who believe in historically accepted biblical values and constructive debate), we will embolden the perpetual progressive assault on conservatives.
Conservatives are not stupid. We are not looking for a scrap. We are not wanting to annihilate the opposition. We believe in civilization, the principles of the American constitution, morality as defined by a responsible interpretation of biblical guidelines (in both Old and New Testaments), and true liberalism which means, among other principles, we stand for a secular government (not a theocracy), education includes the humanities, not just the Bible, and that free speech and free thinking enrich our society. This should be the “short-form” manifesto presenting what most conservatives believe.
It’s time to repudiate the picture progressives want to paint of us depicting conservatism as close-minded, reactionary, racially bigoted, and ready to draw blood when opposing those who differ with our point of view. We believe we are reasonable people that want the best for our country and everyone in it. As such, we stand with the Founding Fathers. We assert that the progressives don’t.
